ARA-290

ARA-290
ARA-290 is a synthetic peptide based on erythropoietin (EPO). It activates the innate repair receptor (IRR) to reduce inflammation, prevent cell death, and support tissue repair. Unlike EPO, it does not increase red blood cell production, so it avoids risks such as blood clots. ARA-290 may help reduce nerve pain, improve wound healing, and regulate immune activity.

ARA-290 selectively binds and activates the innate repair receptor (IRR), a receptor complex composed of the erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) and the β-common receptor (CD131). This receptor is upregulated following tissue injury and is involved in regulating the body’s repair, protective, and anti-inflammatory responses.
ARA-290 was made to separate the regenerative and protective actions of EPO from its red blood cell–stimulating effects. Through selective activation of the IRR, ARA-290 triggers signalling pathways that promote anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and tissue-repair functions without altering red blood cell levels.
Its mechanism of action primarily involves suppression of pro-inflammatory signalling, especially the NF-κB pathway, a major regulator of inflammatory activity. Inhibiting this pathway decreases the release of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6.
Studied in research involving peripheral neuropathy, nerve repair, inflammation regulation, mitochondrial activity, and tissue resistance to stress-related damage.
