Adipotide (FTTP) is a chimeric peptide engineered to target the blood vessels associated with white adipose tissue. It combines a prohibitin-binding peptide sequence with the proapoptotic D(KLAKLAK)2 domain. Research focuses on how this dual-action structure may selectively impair adipose tissue vasculature in preclinical studies.

Adipotide, commonly referred to as FTPP (Fat Targeted Proapoptotic Peptide), is a synthetic investigational compound developed for obesity research by targeting the vascular system of fat tissue. It is described as a peptidomimetic designed to selectively induce the destruction of fat cells.

The peptide contains a “homing” sequence that recognizes a specific protein expressed in the blood vessels supplying white adipose tissue. After binding to these vessels, it initiates apoptosis, or programmed cell death. By disrupting the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to fat cells, the adipose tissue gradually breaks down and is naturally cleared by the body.

Common research areas include:

  • Adipose tissue apoptosis and targeted vascular disruption
  • Obesity and metabolic disorder models
  • Insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation
  • Fat metabolism pathways
